QuietStrength didn’t begin with a business plan or a list of services. It grew out of a way of thinking I’d developed over more than twenty years of designing and building things.

Complicated doesn’t automatically mean clever. More features don’t automatically make a better product. And technology works best when it helps somebody do what they came to do, then gets out of the way.

Who am I?

Hi, I’m Steve.

I’m the founder of QuietStrength. I’m a product designer, UX consultant and software developer based in Berkshire.

I started making things with computers long before anybody called it UX. Over the years I’ve worked on products and systems for organisations including Marks & Spencer, Lantra and businesses across retail, financial services, healthcare and other specialist sectors.

I’ve designed interfaces, run discovery, untangled workflows, built prototypes, written production software and spent a considerable amount of time asking awkward questions about why something works the way it does.
