Troubleshooting Guide
Notifications aren’t working
QuietStrength uses gentle reminders to help you stay consistent with your body tracking, mindfulness and grounding. If you’re not receiving notifications:
1) Check iPhone notification settings
Settings – Notifications – QuietStrength
Make sure:
- Allow Notifications is enabled
- Lock screen / Notification Centre / Banners are on
- Sounds or Badges (optional)
2) Check in-app reminder settings
Inside QuietStrength – Settings – Notifications
Make sure:
- Photo update reminder
- Sleep summary
- Mind reminder
- Groud reminder
…are all ON and scheduled correctly.
3) Restart your iPhone
iOS sometimes delays local notifications. A restart resets the queue.
I can’t take photos
QuietStrength stores all photos locally on your device. Nothing is uploaded or tracked.
If you see an error or the camera won’t open:
Go to Settings – Privacy & Security – Camera – QuietStrength and toggle on.
Body stats/health data not showing
percentage and muscle mass from Apple Health if you’ve granted permission and have the necessary additional hardware (Apple Watch for sleep and compatible smart scales for weight and body fat/muscle) and have granted permission.
Check:
Settings – Apps – Health – Data Access & Devices – QuietStrength
Make sure toggles for:
- Active Energy
- Body Fat Percentage
- Lean Body Mass
- Sleep
- Steps
- Walking + Running Distance
- Weight
…are all ON.
If your smart scales write to Health, the data will automatically appear in QuietStrength.
Ambient temperature in Ground isn’t updating
QuietStrength fetches weather data using your device’s location.
Check:
Settings – Privacy & Security – Location Services – QuietStrength
Set to:
- While Using the App
- or Ask Next Time Or When I Share (but you’ll need to approve each session)
If your location is disabled on the device entirely:
Settings – Privacy & Security – Location Services – On
Mind noise (pink/white/brown) isn’t playing
Check:
- Silent mode isn’t preventing audio
- Volume is up
- AirPods/Bluetooth haven’t taken over output
- No other app is playing exclusive audio (Spotify etc)
QuietStrength uses system audio for mind noise. It requires no data and works offline anywhere.
Grounding session didn’t save
A session saves when you hit Stop, enter Notes and then press Save session.
If it didn’t save:
- You may have closed the app fully while a timer was running
- Your phone may have been force-closed during low battery
- Restart and try again
Ground is designed to recover most active sessions automatically if possible.

Is my data private?
Yes, all data stays on your device. Nothing leaves your phone.
Does QuietStrength use subscriptions?
No. QuietStrength is a one-time purchase only. No ads and no tracking.
Can I export/import my data?
Currently no. QuietStrength stores everything securely on your device and never uploads your information.
I’m looking at private, safe options for data transfer when switching phones, but it requires more careful design to stay true to the app’s privacy ethos.
What happens if I upgrade to a new phone?
For now your data doesn’t move between devices. I’m exploring private transfer options.
Does QuietStrength work offline?
Yes, completely. Ambient temperature needs a connection but is editable manually. Everything else works anywhere.
Will QuietStrength come to other devices?
For now, QuietStrength is an iPhone only experience. I’ll explore other devices if there’s strong interest.
